I have made you a poultice, my dear,
I've borrowed from trees and stolen from the sky.I've had to hijack the earth, I've needed precious things,
my love, I've asked ants to crawl into the earth,
they've brought me tiny amulets crafted from sand.
I've asked great birds to fly into the wind,
to bring me wisps of cloud, threaded with feather
and blessed with flight.
I've bottled thick goblets of sunlight, pinched them
into tiny honey marbles, I've crushed snow
and stained their crystals with berries, the colour of a beating heart.
I've brought these things together for you, my dear,
crafted this poultice for you to rub into your weary limbs,
to take away your pain, to soothe your fears,
to remind you that your spirit is part of everything,
shaped from star dust and steeped in love.
