stone #13 - beech tree

Without its leaves, the beech tree looks as if it has been turned upside down, its hysterical roots in the air, always reaching upwards.  Next to it, the power lines are stark, angular, rational.  In the distance, the sky's midriff has become stained pink, the colour of watery Ribena.

Your word picture is so vivid - balancing the hysterical with the rational, not to mention the sunburned sky.

'sky's midriff' - brilliant, especially impressive as I was yesterday trying to come up with an appropriate word, and failed miserably.

Thanks Barb, Sandra and Jodi - every day I drive past this tree on the way to and from work, so thought it deserved its own stone!
